چکیده

This paperback is a typical example of the flood of American textbooks lately reissued in the U.K. As an exposition of what is considered important for US students to know, the information is all right. However, such books leave out any reference to British contributions in their fields, and therefore present the British student with an incomplete picture. One might conclude from this publication that only Jeremy Bentham and John Locke, from amongst British learned men, had ever made any contribution to learning theory. No mention is made of the work of LoreflZ and Tinbergen, or their particular contribution to learning on imprinting lines. The first chapter is rather badly written, but the rest of the work is very clearly presented and well laid out. It would be a good thing if publishers were to get a competent native to go through such American works, to adapt them carefully t0 the British market.
